Dava School House – Your Scottish Fishing Retreat!

As we work our way through a very different tourist season we have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our guests back to the School House.  From opening back in August we have welcomed walkers, nature enthusiasts and recently we gave a warm welcome to fishermen fishing the River Findhorn.

At the School House, we offer exclusive use en-suite accommodation with lounge space for our guests.  With this on offer our guests settled in very comfortably and began to enjoy the additional space we have available to them.

From arranging storage of fishing equipment to hosting a South African BBQ in the rain, hosted by our very own ‘Braai Master’ Andy our guests were in for a real treat!

Each morning our fisherman started their day with a home-cooked breakfast served in our beautiful School Room.

At Dava School House, breakfast includes a choice of home-made granola, cheese and chive scones, fresh fruit from Wester Hardmuir fruit farm, freshly squeezed orange juice or fruit smoothies. Our eggs are courtesy of Misses Mollie, Maisie, Millie and Wobbles, sausages as well as haggis and black pudding from Cairngorm Butchers – after all it is all about supporting local and giving our guests the very best Highland Experience. Each morning four red squirrels arrived on queue to entertain our fisherman, the perfect way to start the morning in the Scottish Highlands!

On arrival our guests enjoyed homemade soup with freshly baked bread followed by a Scottish Cheeseboard sourced from the Connage Dairy.

Our fisherman were booked on an all-inclusive rate so subsequent evening prepared a two-course dinner using only great local produce including beef olives from Cairngorm Butchers, local Chicken from Balliefurth (Nethybridge) and Monkfish from ProFish who are based in Aviemore.  We work with our guests to create the very best experience for them – that includes what is on the menu!

As the evening drew to a close each night our guests relaxed in our School Room with our complimentary whisky’s, the week’s choice were Wolfburn, Glen Moray and Tamnavulin.
